We are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Director to replace the current Financial Director for a short to medium-term period. This role will involve working closely with the current Financial Director to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities and leading the financial team through a period of transition.

The successful candidate will have a strategic role in assessing the current scope of the financial team, reorganising and streamlining operations to maximise efficiencies, and supporting the deployment of a new commercial and accounting software across the group. This role will eventually transition to a new commercial department once the software deployment is complete.

A key part of the role will be helping design the commercial processes that take place within the business and supporting the outsourcing of more financial tasks, such as the production of management accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handover and Transition: Work alongside the current Financial Director to ensure a smooth transition, gaining in-depth knowledge of the financial systems, processes, and ongoing projects, including the sales, purchase, and payroll ledgers.
  • Team Assessment & Reorganisation: In collaboration with the group board of directors, assess the current financial team's structure and processes, identifying areas for improvement and driving efficiency through strategic team reorganisation and process enhancements.
  • Software Implementation: Play a key role in deploying new commercial and accounting software. Collaborate with the group board of directors to ensure the system is aligned with financial operations and will support long-term business goals.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring alignment with group objectives and industry best practices. The format and content of these reports are to be agreed upon with the group board of directors.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to ensure transparency and alignment on financial strategy and operational changes.
  • Risk Management: Identify financial risks and recommend actions to mitigate them, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies.

To be successful in this role you will have a strong academic background, typically a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, is essential.

Experience in finance, coupled with professional qualifications like ACCA, CIMA, or ACA, is highly valued.

Additionally, strong leadership and communication skills are crucial for success in this role.
