Job Title: Maintenance Manager (Solar Background)

Location: South Wales

Salary: up to £80k + Bens

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Overview: The Maintenance Manager will oversee the maintenance operations of solar energy installations, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and safety across all sites. This role requires a strong background in solar technology, leadership in managing maintenance teams, and the capability to coordinate a network of contractors to deliver high-quality service and maintenance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the maintenance department, including internal staff and a network of contractors.
  • Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance schedules for solar installations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures and best practices to optimise equipment reliability and performance.
  • Manage contracts and relationships with third-party service providers and contractors.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimise downtime.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, budgets, and documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with project management and operations teams to ensure seamless communication and project alignment.
  • Drive initiatives for cost reduction, energy efficiency, and process improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or equivalent experience would be highly beneficial
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in maintenance management, with a focus on solar energy systems.
  • Strong understanding of solar PV systems, inverters, electrical installations, and grid connectivity.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification is highly desirable.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with SCADA systems for solar monitoring.
  • Knowledge of asset management and performance optimisation strategies.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
