Revealed: The Surge in Job Searches Since May

Due to the Coronavirus crisis, there’s been an increase in the number of applicants looking for jobs. As a result of the surge in job-seekers, there has been a huge increment in job searches too. 

Manufacturing, construction, sales and HR are just 3 of the sectors which have seen a prominent boost in job searches, showcasing that there could be a wealth of high-quality candidates ready and waiting to join your organisation. 

As the COVID-19 crisis continues, and sadly more and more companies are hit by hardship as we draw closer to the end of the furlough scheme and further towards economic difficulty, we have seen a consistent number of redundancies made, and consequently, an increased number of applicants actively hunting for jobs.

A recent survey showed that job searches in May this year were up significantly from April, and we predict that we will see a similar upturn when analysing June’s figures, as well as July and beyond. 

As well as HR, sales and construction, the survey revealed that job searches were also up throughout the fields of marketing, finance, IT, engineering, retail and administration. 

It’s proving to be a truly interesting time for the UK job market. With job seekers including those recently made redundant and eager to use this opportunity for a new career, those placed on furlough who are looking to get back to work, as well as those who might have been hunting for the right job prior to the COVID-19 crisis, from the perspective of a recruiter - there’s arguably never been a better time to fill your position with some exceptional talent.
