Top 3 Reasons People are Leaving your Construction Site

Here at Rhinorecruitment.com, we work with our clients to create long-term recruitment strategies, allowing them to benefit from the staff we supply both today and many years down the line. This is why we are keen to learn about the changing attitudes and behaviours of modern construction workers, needing to know what makes them tick in order to put them in positions in which they can excel.

Below, we take a look at the most common reasons modern workers are leaving their construction jobs.

Negative workplace culture

As we have covered in many of our previous posts, culture is becoming increasingly important to modern workers. Wanting to feel comfortable, happy and that they are part of a high-performing team, a good job is now about much more than location and pay.

Not feeling valued

According to a recent study, over 21 percent of UK workers feel that they are not valued at work, being a major reason many leave their roles. This is why praising and rewarding staff that are achieving great things is a must.

It is also worth noting that many workers see pay rate as a sign of their employer's respect towards them, with those being paid healthily for the work they do more likely to stick around.

Jobs having a negative impact on mental health

As a nation, we are becoming more and more aware of our mental health and the mental health of the people around us. Understanding the importance of a happy working life, we are seeing a huge spike in the number of workers leaving jobs that impact their mental health in a negative way. Sources say that this is the case in close to 30 percent of resignations.
