Database Manager – Remote role with occasional travel to Cardiff – Full-time – £41,500 to £45,000
Rhino Recruitment is looking for a Database Manager to join an established IT team in Cardiff. This full-time position offers the chance to step into a managerial role while maintaining a hands-on technical focus, ideal for candidates ready to progress their career in data management within a non-profit setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the organisation's data systems, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with GDPR.
- Manage database environments, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Lead the implementation of data management strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and optimise database operations.
- Design and deliver regular and ad-hoc reports for stakeholders across various departments.
- Use SQL to run complex queries and support deeper data analysis.
- Enforce data quality controls, perform audits, and resolve integrity issues.
- Support data sharing between systems through APIs and integration protocols.
- Manage backup, recovery, and data retention processes.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on effective database usage.
- Optionally manage performance and development of Data Officers.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in database administration or data management
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics and/or Blackbaud Raiser's Edge (desirable)
- Proficiency in SQL and understanding of database structures
- Familiarity with Power BI or similar tools
- Working knowledge of APIs and data protection legislation
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing or mentoring staff (preferred)
- High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
Working Pattern & Location:
- 35 hours per week, flexible within 7am–9pm operating hours
- Remote role with occasional travel to Cardiff, CF10 1EP (Generalised postcode shown to maintain employer confidentiality)
- No fixed office attendance; South Wales-based candidates preferred due to potential future team requirements
Salary & Benefits:
- £41,500 to £45,000 depending on experience
- Permanent, full-time contract
