Rhino Recruitment are hiring a Works Manager on behalf of one of our clients that are leaders in the Marine Engineering industry.
The Role:
The Works Manager is responsible for co-ordinating and supervising job/projects and the work of production staff, ensuring that all work is delivered safely on time and within budget along with managing equipment and materials required. This involves ensuring all Company and legal regulations are implemented, that all required documentation is completed as necessary and recording daily work on site. The Works Manager will be supervising 2 foremen, workforce and working closely alongside the General Manager and Fabrication Manager.

The company offers comprehensive capabilities including structural and mechanical engineering, electrical and hydraulic systems, pipework, diving and sub-surface engineering, interior and exterior outfitting, flooring, blasting, and painting.
Its services support sectors such as commercial shipping, cruise, defence, renewables (wind and tidal), offshore oil and gas, ship repair and refit, and marine civil works. With headquarters in Southampton, it delivers fully integrated, end-to-end engineering solutions across multiple trades.
Main Duties:
- Manage projects and daily operations, supervising staff and subcontractors to ensure quality, safety, punctuality, and conduct standards are met.
- Prepare and monitor projects from quotation to completion, tracking costs and performance to meet time and budget targets.
- Remain reachable by phone or email to support the company’s responsive services.
- Assist the General Manager in driving new business, sales growth and support the General Manager in meeting annual budget and performance targets.
- Monitor and purchase consumables, materials, and equipment to ensure uninterrupted project delivery.
- Visit sites to survey work and assist in preparing project quotations.
- Ensure all projects have required SHE and quality documentation in place and understood before work begins.
- Complete and compile lifetime quality records (LTQRs) for each project upon completion.
- Remain flexible and perform other duties as needed to support the company’s objectives.
Requirements:
- Managing Safely IOSH is preferred.
- Able to demonstrate a good understanding of IT packages including Microsoft Word and Excel, the Internet and Email, and can adhere to Company IMS procedures as required.
- Marine and/or fabrication experience would be highly advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Must be able to interpret technical drawings, schematic parts manuals and diagrams and associated technical data & specifications.
