External Water Supply Engineer - Taunton

Rhino Recruitment seeking skilled and reliable engineers to carry out repairs and replacements of external water supply pipes for domestic properties. This hands-on role involves diagnosing faults, completing high-quality installations, and ensuring all work meets current water regulations and safety standards.

Pay: £16–£18 per hour (negotiable depending on experience).
Contract: Temp-to-Perm (12-week temporary period acting as probation.

Responsibilities:

• Locate and repair leaks on external domestic water supply pipes

• Replace underground pipework (MDPE, copper, etc.) — full or partial renewals

• Excavate and reinstate surfaces (soil, concrete, paving, tarmac)

• Install stop taps, boundary boxes, and isolation valves

• Pressure test and commission new or repaired supplies

• Liaise professionally with customers, councils, and water authorities

• Complete job reports, risk assessments, and photo records

• Maintain tools, vehicles, and follow all H&S procedures

Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in domestic external water supply works

• Knowledge of underground services and pipe materials

• Confident with excavation (hand tools and small plant)

• Ability to read plans and locate buried services

• Strong fault-finding skills and high standard of workmanship

Requirements:

• Water Regulations qualification (or willing to obtain)

• Full UK driving licence

• Streetworks / excavation experience (NRSWA desirable)

• Able to work independently and manage jobs through to completion
