Temporary – Permanent

Location: Cwmbran

Days: Monday to Friday, overtime available on weekends

Hours: 06:00-14:00, 10:00-18:00 – alternating shift pattern

Pay: £16.65 per hour, £24.98 for overtime

About the Role

Rhino Recruitment is working on behalf of a valued client to recruit an experienced Multiskilled Engineer to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on engineer with a broad range of electrical and mechanical skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving site machinery, equipment and facilities, helping to ensure high levels of reliability, safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults efficiently and safely.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime.
  • Undertake installation, servicing and modification of plant, machinery and equipment.
  • Complete electrical fault-finding and basic control system diagnostics.
  • Carry out mechanical repairs, including bearings, belts, pumps, motors, conveyors and other mechanical components.
  • Assist with continuous improvement and engineering projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete relevant documentation.
  • Work closely with production and other departments to resolve engineering issues.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and health & safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Support contractors and external engineers where required.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a multiskilled engineering or maintenance role.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities.
  • Experience working with industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose faults logically and work effectively under pressure.
  • Good understanding of preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Strong health and safety awareness.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, flexible and hands-on approach to engineering.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

  • Electrical or mechanical engineering qualification.
  • 18th Edition qualification.
  • City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Experience with PLCs and automated machinery.
  • Experience with motors, inverters, sensors and control systems.
  • Welding/fabrication experience.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, production, processing or industrial environment.

The successful candidate will be a reliable and adaptable engineer who enjoys solving problems and taking ownership of maintenance issues. You will be equally comfortable working independently or as part of a wider engineering team and will have a strong focus on safety, quality and keeping equipment operational.
