We’re looking for an experienced Welding Foreman to oversee site activity and lead welding teams across multiple projects. The role focuses on safe delivery, quality workmanship, and effective coordination of people, plant, and materials. You’ll work closely with management to keep jobs running smoothly, on programme, and within agreed costs.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring work meets agreed quality, safety, and technical standards.
  • Manage day-to-day site activity, with a clear understanding of job scope, labour hours, materials, and equipment allowances.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular updates to senior management, flagging risks or issues that could affect time, cost, or delivery.
  • Confirm that all works are covered by suitable RAMS prior to starting, and that teams follow safe systems of work, permits, and Take 5 processes.
  • Coordinate the ordering and availability of consumables, materials, and plant so sites remain fully operational.
  • Maintain discipline, attendance, and professional behaviour in line with company policies.
  • Promote high standards of housekeeping across sites, vehicles, stores, and workshops.
  • Support asset control by ensuring tools and equipment are tracked, accounted for, and any losses are reported promptly.
  • Remain contactable to support the reactive nature of the business, including participation in on-call duties when required.
  • Apply company management systems and procedures consistently across all activities.
  • Attend client sites to assess upcoming works and contribute to surveys and pricing where needed.
  • As with all roles, flexibility is expected. You may be asked to carry out additional duties that are reasonable and aligned with your level of responsibility.

Skills and experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with operatives, managers, and suppliers.
  • At least five years’ experience within a marine or civil engineering environment.
  • Proven background supervising teams and monitoring productivity and workmanship.
  • Confident reading and working from technical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Well organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple work fronts.
  • Comfortable travelling to different sites as business needs require.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • A team-focused approach, with the ability to motivate and lead by example.
